Welcome Information and FAQs
We are looking forward to greeting you at Rock County Christian School in Beloit, Wisconsin. We know you will have many questions as you prepare to start the year with us. Here you will find useful information that will answer many of your questions.
General logistics of travel and settling in: We will be on hand to welcome you, transport you to your host family’s home, settle you in, make sure you have what you need, and give you a detailed packet of information about the orientation program and everything you need to get ready for the school year.
When should I plan to arrive? The first day of classes is late August. We strongly urge you to arrive by August 22 or 23. We have a full, fun, useful orientation planned for you. More information on orientation is listed below. For returning students, you should arrive by late August.
Whom should I contact with my travel information? As soon as you obtain your student visa and book your airline tickets, please email Tim Befus with your flight information and itinerary. Make sure that your final destination is either Chicago or Milwaukee.
What will my life be like in southern Wisconsin? You will be living with a host family in the Beloit area. While each family is unique, there are some basic rules for your host family experience detailed in the International Student Rules & Policies document. Transportation to Rock County Christian will be provided by your host family each morning.
What is the weather like? Southern Wisconsin has for distinct seasons, with:
- warm summers-great for water sports such as swimming and boating
- brisk fall months (Oct-Nov) with beautiful foliage
- cold & snowy winters, great for skiing and sledding
- beautiful spring months of March-May when everything turns green again
